History
Carl Ackerman produced and hosted a surfing & music show in 1987 called Crossfire Videos on the Cox Cable Public Access channel in San Diego which soon became a success because of pro surfers like Peter King and The H-Street Skateboard team who frequented the show.
After being interviewed by the show Testimony, Carl was hired as a cameraman working with the multi-Emmy Award winning Director, Jerry Barnard Jr. of Faithline. Carl Worked for Christian Communications Network for over 2 years as a cameraman in studio and in the field for 5 shows weekly, one being a daily national show called Faithline.
In 1989 Carl moved to Humboldt County, CA where He started Crossfire Productions. Owning the first Betacam and Betacam Editing Suite in the Eureka/Arcata area, Carl Ackerman produced many programs including the documentary for Humboldt Redwoods State Park entitled Avenue of the Giants and several for the Great Arcata to Ferndale Cross Country Kinetic Sculpture Race. In 1996 Carl
produced the first “how to shape a surfboard” program called Shaping 101 with John Carper which instantly spread Internationally. Several years later He released The Life Story of the first surf photographer Doc Ball which aired regularly on PBS in Humboldt and won a Telly Award in 2000.
In 2001 Carl Ackerman moved to New Mexico and took a position at KOBTV CH 4 as a Commercial Producer. Carl produced 2 training programs for the surfing industry called Epoxy Shaping 101 and Epoxy Glassing 101 in 2007 which He markets on his website www.surfingvideos.com Later that year, Carl Ackerman purchased a Panasonic HPX-500 HD Camera Package and everything looks great!
